Sworn to secrecy ... so I'll just have to be creative *giggles*

*waves paws*
Hi everyone,
Sweetie here, I hope you are all keeping well and happy.

As some of you may remember, my Kitty sister had her Spay operation last year....
And it did not go so well!

After being sent home by the Vet whom performed the spay .... because Willow was bleeding heavily from her surgery site and did not respond in a way that the after care letter she was given that day had outlined. Yollie felt it necessary for Willow to be seen at an emergency clinic. She was re-operated on and long story short because of this she now, lives a happy, healthy, cheeky and spoilt life :D

Yollie took matters further, not wanting another to suffer as our family did, feeling that the Vet whom performed the Spay did not behave in a proper manner when dealing with Willow's complications.

Sadly, due to our Laws in this country, I am restricted to the information I am able to provide, such as the name of the Vet or the name of the organisation Willow attended.

However we do also have a thing called, "Freedom of speech" and for this reason I am sharing our story.  If  this can save or help another .... well that is what humanity and goodwill is all about right?

First thing, you need to know that just because a Vet tells your human something, it does not always mean they are right!!!   Always ask questions.

It is okay for your human to ask questions, to clarify what they are being told or even to ask a second opinion.   A Vet is no different to a Doctor!!  If something smells fishy... well it probably is!

Let your humans know, never be afraid to speak up!

Basically, our humans have internal signs when something is not right.... think of it like... um,  if you are nomming and munching away on your favourite leaf of Rommaine when .....
 BAM!!
Suddenly, an overhead shadow appears! *demonstrates freezing to the spot and twisting ears*?

Or you are hopping around the lounge and suddenly a strange noise sounds outside the window *demonstrates bunny periscope* you wonder what it could be?

These are our instincts to keep us safe, well our humans have them too... but *giggles* theirs are funny, they get 'butterflies' in their tummies or the little peach fuzz they call hair on their bodies will stand up or their hearts will beat faster ... come to think of it, we share that one....

So if you are at the Vet and your human feels some of these warning signs... it's not because they think they know better than the Vet... it's because they are using their instincts and can feel something is up. So the best course of action is for your human to say something, do something.... you never know it may just save our life!

Yollie took matters further and saw it through to the end.  She is happy with the outcome.

A silent act, a voice for all future animals who are treated at this establishment. A major stir up and a number of both administrative and treatment changes that Yollie outlined and suggested have been implemented at this very, very large organisation (who will remain nameless).

If this saves just one animal, it is worth it!

Thanks so much for stopping by ... take care,

Sweetie xoxoxo

Too long between posts .... so lots to catch up on .....Now

A very, very long time has passed since we have updated our blog.

For this we are sorry.  So much has happened around here good and some not so good, it was initially difficult to find the time to share our world... but then it became difficult to find the words :(

Yollie here,

Prince Patches the Puzzling of FCF, Rest in Peace

17/Sept/09 ~ 20/Dec/12

It is with great sadness that I share with you all that our dear, beloved Prince of FCF has grown his wings and set over Rainbow bridge....

Prince Patches the Puzzling, made his journey on the 20th December 2012.  It was a sudden blockage - inoperable and sadly too painful to allow him to go on.  He had a metabolic condition that mean he was unable to absorb calcium from food in the proper amount and ultimately his beautiful and precious life was cut too short.  We love and miss him so very much - the pain is a reminder of this love.  RIP gorgeous man, in our hearts forever.

Sweetie obviously took her brothers passing hard.  She refused food and needed constant encouragement to eat and drink. She was oh so quiet.  It broke our hearts to watch her this way. Melancholy, un-interested, distanced are words I would use to describe her mood.   I am pleased to report that since then, she has improved.  We have not seen a binky as yet, but certainly much more her cheeky, mischievous self.

Luckily, and I don't know what made me do it *looks to the heavens* I had been working on bonding Willow and Sweetie, prior to Patches' passing,  this has truly been a life-saver.  I am happy to report that Sweetie is officially our housebunny and Willow has welcomed her whole heartedly.  We do however have a little matter to sort out regarding a certain blankie!
Willow says it is HER blankie.....

Obviously!

Meanwhile....
Sweetie disagrees!!   It is HER blanket...
So.....
The official "Blankie Wars" have begun....
Onto other news, I am pleased to report that Angel and Teegee are fighting fit, in love and happy....
Loving their life as King and Queen of Fairy Castle farm.  We are surviving the awful heatwaves here in Australia right now.... and look forward to the cooler days to come.

We were also overjoyed to receive Xmas cards from our facebook friends, near and far... very far, right over the other side of the globe in fact!!  The human residents are all well too and look forward to a year of joy, love and good health.   Yollie's dad however is poorly, he is booked into have spinal surgery early next month.  Prayers and positive vibes would be greatly appreciated <3 div="" nbsp="">

General Hudson our rooster is also having a bit of a tough spell... much to his disgust.  We are considered suburbia here at FCF, not rural and we have had a Ranger from our local council inform us that his morning crow is disturbing 1 (yes that is right, one) neighbour and therefore, if we cannot suppress his morning song (just for a little bit) then he will need to find a new castle to protect.   Long story short, Mr Stewart (my fabulous, talent and brilliant hubby) once again saves the day.  The "Tinkerbelle Nursery" he built earlier, also serves as an outstanding  Rooster silencer!!
No longer needed as a nursery... Mr Stewart's coup is now the perfect "Rooster Silencer" !!
I have now got into the routine of placing King General Hudson in the coup after dark and allow him to join his flock each morning after 8.30am.... it seems to be working a treat.   The Ranger said he will follow up with me (this was supposed to occur over a week ago now) but I have not heard from him.... so I am taking this as, no news is good news!
Here you can see a side view, Tink had her chick in here ... you can actually see General Hudson to the bottom right.... this nesting area is actually two partitions (nesting boxes) so perfect for keeping Hudson secure and silenced... hopefully meaning he can continue to live with us here at FCF.... finger, paws and ears all crossed

T hank you everyone for visiting so often and especially since we have not been updating the blog.  Please know that we do see all your visits on our counter and are truly blessed to have so much support around the world.

I do seem to keep Facebook updated, so if you like to know what is happening and would like to visit us there please do.... we love to welcome new friends... here is our link https://www.facebook.com/FairyCastleFarm.Residents

We hope you are enjoying life wherever that may be... and love to hear from you, so please, as Sweetie would say, "Don't be shy to hop by and say Hi!!"

Sweetie:  You said WHAT!!!
Sweetie: Um, NO! I would rather give myself a pawdicure!!! Yollie: "Come on girls, this is a great idea. Spend some time together..... for me?"

A Eulogy.... Nonna Carmela De Palma (nee Bologna) 1924-2012

Hi friends,
Carmela De Palma
 (nee Bologna) 1924-2012

As many of you already know, Nonna passed away peacefully last Thursday, surrounded by her loving family.
Yollie wanted to share the concluding eulogy she delivered at her funeral mass yesterday.Nonna Carmela loved and embraced the diverse culture around her, making life-long friends easily.

Language was never a barrier for Nonna. She spoke in kindness, generosity and friendship, her laugh and smile, that I miss most was infectious as it was beautiful.

Nonna Carmela had a unique and individual relationship with each of her grand and great grand-children. Talking to Nonna meant her un-divided attention, usually with your hand held in hers. Truly wanting to hear what we had to say. She treasured this time.

Aside from friends, family, television and her soapies, Nonna’s very favourite thing was the telephone. But, no matter how we tried, she just never trusted that her voice would be carried the distance – so she simply shouted!!

One of my favourite memories was during school holidays. Nonna would have Yvanna and I over to make Pizzas. On arriving we would find all the bases stretched out on trays and the topping ready to assemble. With the first batch just coming out of the oven, ready to eat. She always thought of everything.  I loved this special time with Nonna.
Saying “tarra” (bye bye)  or intending to leave  was the hardest thing to do. You would have to start the ritual a good half hour before you actually wanted to go. She would look so sad saying “Eh no, Stare un po' più” “Mamma e papà possono andare, ma voi rimanete con Nonna ” … and so it would continue.  This is how it was with Nonna she loved your company never wanting you to leave.
So that is how my “Nonna Mela” will remain in my heart.

Nonna queste storie e altri milioni sono nel mio cuore per sempre, riposare in pace e  tara

Thanks for stopping by everyone.

Goodness, how long has it been!!! Is anyone out there??

Howdy friends,

Welcome everyone.....  It's Sweetie here
You say it's been HOW long!!!!

I must say, I am so very sorry not to have hopped by sooner with an update. It's just that soooo much has been going on here at the Castle... it's enough to make a bunnies ears flap!!!

A very special mention to our very dear friend - Speedy the Rabbit who has hopped by in our absence to say hi.  Sorry we have been unable to chat sooner *soft whisker tickles*...

Okay so a brief summary....

* Last month we had this most electric and spectacular 'triple' banded Rainbow at our castle... cool hey!!!

*My Yollie is much better thank you all very much for your kind comments and support.  She submitted her letter to the Patient Advocacy board and is eagerly awaiting the findings of their investigation.

*Mummy (Teegee) and I have not been spayed as yet *happy dance* ... but more on this in a moment

*Willow was spayed a few weeks ago and is doing well now. But sadly she too had a very horrible experience in surgery and Yollie has also had to take matters further in regards to this.  Our poor darling required a second, emergency surgery later the same evening she was brought home from the vets.  But that is all we can write about at the moment as Yollie is giving the practice the opportunity to investigate Willow's case and prefers to keep their details private.  She is sure they will understand that she does not want to hurt their reputation and everyone makes mistakes, it's what you do to remedy the situation, and the strategies you adopt for the future that really counts. We are simply relieved beyond words that Willow is with us to take up her rightful place as "Princess Willow the Fearless Feline of FCF"....
Willow recovering with her friend "Lil Simba"

*Which leads me into our pending Spays... um, Yollie is terrified right now - not believing that she can go through this process again so soon after her own and then Willow's poor incidents.   She just does not think her nerves can take it (lol).... But it will happen, it is probably advisable to wait until after Spring time as it makes it a much safer operation for us bunnies and out crazy reproductive cycles *giggles*....

*Our Facebook page has reached over 800 friends *binkies*

*Lastly, on a sad note, My Yollie and the family are saddened at the news that her Nonna (grandmother's) health has deteriorated.  Nonna is surrounded by her family and loved ones who by her side as she makes her final journey.  She is comfortable and remains in her high dependency nursing home. Her carers are wonderful and treat her like a princess as they always have done. We are keeping brave, celebrating our love for Nonna.

So as you can see a lot has been happening here.... a final mention that the TV Show - Better Homes and Gardens have informed Yollie that they envision airing our story in November... we will keep you posted when we know more.

Finally, a very, very important request........

Here is a picture of the 300 bunnies they saved earlier this year... I am sure you will agree it is a very worthy cause.
and a special request from my dad....
Before I sign off.... one very important request from one very sweet bunny (that's me).....   If you are an Australian resident and would like to vote in a very worth cause... please use the link below to help make a difference.... There are only 7days left to vote....    It is really easy to vote:
