Jungle June, holiday snaps part 2 - turtle island

Howdy all, Sweetie here.  We are all doing great, but freezing our little cotton tails!!  It's brrrrrrrr fffffrrrrreeeezzzzyyy here in Adelaide yesterday got to a whole 11 degrees (about 50 f) .  Luckily we have a cushy hay lined castle to keep toasty warm. My Yollie laughs because in the morning our window is all frosty on the outside and steamy warm on the inside.     =(:o)

Back to warm sunny pictures of the tropics, namely, Bali;

Firstly this is the sunrise from the balcony of the Seminyak Town House apartment. Taken at about 5.45am...
They were off to Turtle Island.....  beware though......  you need to watch your stuff here...
A quick "Donut" cruise to get the blood pumpin'
Poor Lani, did not enjoy this at all. Even though my Yollie asked if it was ok for her girl, and was assured all was fine, the poor little lady nearly had her arm torn-off and was airborne whilst cruising through the waves .  Luckily, My Yollie held on tight - she would never let anything happen to her baby.
Miss Lani's first comment on touching terra ferma?  "Mummy, I saw my life flash before my eyes!!"

I hear it took quite a bit of convincing the little lady to continue on and venture to Turtle Island on the Glass bottom boat!
But she did, such a brave little girl and when she got over the fear of a repeat episode of the "Donut" she quite enjoyed herself.  She even got to feed these little guys some bread.
Here are their captians!  The driver was 12 years old, and an expert.
After a relaxing 20min cruise my humans embark on .......
 TURTLE ISLAND.....
here are some babies ready for weighing and feeding.....
here is our little lady ......  fearless ..... someday she hopes to become a Vet, we can't wait!!
Here are some happy sea turtles being fed by the visitors. Seaweed I think...
The purpose of Turtle Island is a conservation project, where staff and volunteers catch, raise and release native turtles which are desperately depleted and face extinction.  My Yollie thought it was a wonderful programme and the locals were very informative too.  They clearly love their work and are happy to share the experience and their knowledge with others.
This boy below is a mere 60years old!!
Oh, here is my humans wonderful tour guide, Made (pron. Mar-dey), taking a look at a Balinese Horn bill. I Wonder what he is thinking?
My Yollie taught me how to tell the age of this bird, do you want to know how??????
You count it's ridges over the bill of course!  This guy is ....  um .... 1, 2, 3, ......   4!!!!
Next, we have My Yollie, petting a water monitor - hey!!!!  I thought I was her special little critter, boo hoo!
EEEEEEKKKKK!!  Oh, it's ok, it's just a picture, oh boy - me hear nearly jumped out my little chest! Phew. Ok, this is a bird of prey, can't remember the name, too frightened even to look at it. Quickly moving on...
Aaah, that's better, here we have My Yollie, enjoying a refreshing drink and some lunch with her family after the days excitement at Turtle Island!

So that's all from me, Sweetie, signing off now with a preview of tomorrows post....  at Bali Culture Park...

take care everybun!

Jungle June!

Hi it's Sweetie, as promised here is another instalment of:  " Jungle June's Tropical Holiday Pix"!!

This first one was taken in Seminyak, My Yollie just liked the look of the stall, but didn't eat there...
Here we have some pictures taken at Waterbom Park in Kuta.....  They had the best time here.  Little Lani (7yo) LOVED this tip bucket the best.  But she also enjoyed the water slides.  They were a bit much for My Yollie!

Now we see Lani all dressed and ready for "A Night at Bali Zoo" which included a night encounters tour, feeding of the animals and Dinner with a Fire Dance Show.  They had a wonderful night!

this fella is a Binterong , related to the Civet.
the Fire dance was very neat!
Finally I have some pictures of the Barong and Khris dance.  It is a play based on the Balinese Hindu believes of good v's evil with some funny side kicks and king, his daughter and a good white monkey thrown in for good measure.  My Yollie thoroughly enjoyed it and little miss Lani was glued from the first beat of the Gamelan music until the last!

Just to give you a taste of what's to come, below you see the "Donut". This is the ride of doom! Where Lani was recorded in saying "I saw my life flash before my eyes!!!"
Stay safe, keep warm if you are experiencing a bitterly cold winter as we are, and I will  chat with you all real soon.  With more snaps, this time from Turtle Island ooooohhh interesting.

Bye for now, Sweetie xoxoxoxo

HOLIDAY SNAPS!!!!!

Hi, Sweetie here, Patches seems to be doing great.

I thought I would take this opportunity to share some Holiday Pics  My Yollie showed me today.

First up we have "Sir Hops A Lot"  isn't he adorable?
Here is My Yollie having a chat with one of the little monkeys in "Monkey Forest" in Ubud, Bali

He is a determined little fella isn't he!  My Yollie said that he said he just wanted a "look" at her map because he was lost.  But then he went all "Mr Grabby Fingers" on her and she had to explain all about "good manners" and "appropriate monkey behaviour" to him.

What do you think? Did he get the message?  I think so, he is sitting ever so well, hands poised like a gentleman!

Even his dad looked surprised!  - Well done My Yollie!
Oops, back to chewing the furniture, oh well, at least it lasted for a couple of minutes!
Next we have some little super stars at the "Bali Safari and Marine Park"  aren't they just spectacular!
 Look at the piggies go!!

And this was the view from their accommodation, at the Safari Park (from the Kifaru room) click to see website: http://www.marariversafarilodge.com/  - My Yollie said it was fantastic.  She could see Rhinos (pictured), Elephants, Zebra, Wildebeest and Oryx all grazing together from this view of the bedroom window!
I hope you all liked this quick sample of pics, I have plenty more to come.  I think we will dedicate the rest of this month as "Jungle June" and I will post more pics of their tropical holiday!  Perfect way to warm up our bitterly cold Aussie Winter here at the moment.

And lastly - here is a sweet deer, she was wandering with her family around the pool area looking for tasty carrots to eat.

till next time, Take care, from Sweetie xoxoxox
