Goodness, how long has it been!!! Is anyone out there??

Howdy friends,

Welcome everyone.....  It's Sweetie here
You say it's been HOW long!!!!

I must say, I am so very sorry not to have hopped by sooner with an update. It's just that soooo much has been going on here at the Castle... it's enough to make a bunnies ears flap!!!

A very special mention to our very dear friend - Speedy the Rabbit who has hopped by in our absence to say hi.  Sorry we have been unable to chat sooner *soft whisker tickles*...

Okay so a brief summary....

* Last month we had this most electric and spectacular 'triple' banded Rainbow at our castle... cool hey!!!

*My Yollie is much better thank you all very much for your kind comments and support.  She submitted her letter to the Patient Advocacy board and is eagerly awaiting the findings of their investigation.

*Mummy (Teegee) and I have not been spayed as yet *happy dance* ... but more on this in a moment

*Willow was spayed a few weeks ago and is doing well now. But sadly she too had a very horrible experience in surgery and Yollie has also had to take matters further in regards to this.  Our poor darling required a second, emergency surgery later the same evening she was brought home from the vets.  But that is all we can write about at the moment as Yollie is giving the practice the opportunity to investigate Willow's case and prefers to keep their details private.  She is sure they will understand that she does not want to hurt their reputation and everyone makes mistakes, it's what you do to remedy the situation, and the strategies you adopt for the future that really counts. We are simply relieved beyond words that Willow is with us to take up her rightful place as "Princess Willow the Fearless Feline of FCF"....
Willow recovering with her friend "Lil Simba"

*Which leads me into our pending Spays... um, Yollie is terrified right now - not believing that she can go through this process again so soon after her own and then Willow's poor incidents.   She just does not think her nerves can take it (lol).... But it will happen, it is probably advisable to wait until after Spring time as it makes it a much safer operation for us bunnies and out crazy reproductive cycles *giggles*....

*Our Facebook page has reached over 800 friends *binkies*

*Lastly, on a sad note, My Yollie and the family are saddened at the news that her Nonna (grandmother's) health has deteriorated.  Nonna is surrounded by her family and loved ones who by her side as she makes her final journey.  She is comfortable and remains in her high dependency nursing home. Her carers are wonderful and treat her like a princess as they always have done. We are keeping brave, celebrating our love for Nonna.

So as you can see a lot has been happening here.... a final mention that the TV Show - Better Homes and Gardens have informed Yollie that they envision airing our story in November... we will keep you posted when we know more.

Finally, a very, very important request........

Here is a picture of the 300 bunnies they saved earlier this year... I am sure you will agree it is a very worthy cause.
and a special request from my dad....
Before I sign off.... one very important request from one very sweet bunny (that's me).....   If you are an Australian resident and would like to vote in a very worth cause... please use the link below to help make a difference.... Sweetie and Patches move into their new pad....

Hi, Sweetie your Spokes-bun here,
Sweetie

Welcome to all our new followers and seasoned ones as well *giggles*

It has been an eternity since we have updated our blog. For this we apologise. So much has been happening here.
 A summary is in order.
We saw Dr Harry at Petstock and he remembered us!!!

The SUV in our fence
Our damaged fence

A car came crashing through the side fence and caused some damage but everyone was fine and no one was hurt in the accident. Yollie brought us some strawberry tops as treats thinking we would be  frightened by the noise but we honestly did not know what all the fuss was about, if anything the flashing red and blue lights we really very pretty!
On to....... Yollie's birthday bash :)
Very funny Mr Stewart !!
Mummy (Teegee) and I are still at eachother's throats - so Yollie had us booked in to be spayed.  This sadly has been put on hold temporarily as Yollie herself needed to have surgery.  This was last Thursday. She is back home and feeling well again.
Patches and I were ever so lucky to move into our very own Bunny-Pad...
Our Kingdom has expanded !

It was a birthday present for Yollie from her bonded-mate (husband) Mr Stewart, to help make life easier for her with our housing and upkeep since it has taken so long for failed re-bonding attempts for mummy and I.   The plan is once mummy and I have been spayed and Yollie has successfully rebonded us, this house could be used as our 'transportable' holiday home.  To use around the kingdom as a playpen. Or a transportable chook coop or we could just let Willow use it as a cat run  *giggles* the possibilities are endless!
Willow at 5 months
Willow celebrated her 5month birthday ....  by the fire.
and finally,
Toasted marshmallows while recovering from surgery, Yollie says "Are the Best!!":)
So there you have it. It has been go, go, go around here.... hope you enjoy the pics.  As always thanks for stopping by. We love it when you say Hi!    Till next time. "Don't be shy to hop by and say Hi!"  xoxox Sweetie

You’ll never guess who Sweetie is named after!

Good day dear friends,
Sweetie here,
I hope you are all keeping well and enjoying your corner of the globe.

I wanted to take this opportunity to share with you all a very little know story of how I got my name.

I know many of you could be forgiven that "Sweetie" is my name because of how sweet, delicate and nice I am in nature. But in actual fact my name is "Sweetie" because of a .... (are you ready for this?) .... wait,

you may want to be sitting down.... Okay?  ....
 Right, good.... Now I am called "Sweetie"  after a - - - -

D~O~N~K~E~Y !!

I know!  A Donkey!!

This is what she looks like:

Sweetie and Miss Princess at Dundee wildlife Park

Do you see any resemblance?

Patches just giggle-snorts and binkies away when I show him the picture...
heee heeee heeee
I hope he is not laughing at me *thump*

Daddy says it is because we both  have a gentle and kind-hearted sense of  what is good and right, and that Yollie felt this the moment I was born.

I was given my name the very moment Yollie and Miss Princess met me... I was only hours old, and I was already "Sweetie".

Baby Sweetie
Yollie tells me that this delightful girl lived at a wildlife park in Murray Bridge (South Australia) called Dundee's Wildlife Park, perhaps someone reading this may have visited and seen Sweetie for themselves.

Looking for a pacifier ....
Sweetie's favourite activity was to 'borrow' babies dummies if they were dropped or visible from their prams, only very reluctantly ever giving them back... Miss Princess on visiting Sweetie thought she was the prettiest long eared furry creature she had ever seen!  We visited her often and have many photos of her. Sweetie will always be remembered by our family as a gentle soul with cheeky eyes and a hungry belly! Sadly this park is no longer operating, the last we heard is that Sweetie retired with her family and lives happily on their land.

So there you go... now you all know how I got to be "Sweetie"

Take care and remember ... Don't be shy to hop by and say Hi!!

Sweetie... your Spokes bun at Fairy Castle Farm... not the Donkey (giggles) xoxo

With heavy hearts, shocked by our sudden loss, we say "Goodbye beautiful Harry" ....

Princess Harriett "Harry"
It is a post of sadness and loss tonight I am sorry...

Sweetie here,
As spokes bun of Fairy Castle Farm it is my duty to inform you all that tragically our girl, Princess Harriett "Harry" of Fairy Castle Farm has passed away suddenly ....

What is more baffling is that we are unsure as to why?

She roosted as she normally did, happily after a day of laying her speckled egg, foraging, evading General Hudson, dust bathing and gossiping with the rest of the flock. So this really has come as quite a shock!

It was only when Yollie came out for our nightly bunny chat-time, treats and snuggles that I was able to alert her to the sad turn of events.

As you know, Yollie and I are closely bonded... so much so that when I feel happy, sad, worried or even scared she knows right away... Well tonight she saw right away that I was desperately worried and sad.  I hopped right over to the side of the coop to show her that Harry had crossed over to fly with the flock over Rainbow Bridge.

Patches
Immediately Yollie broke down, once she realised nothing could be done for Harry, her very special and bright 'Cheeky Houdini' hen. Yollie, bursting into tears, sank to her knees beside me, I licked her cheek as she tried to understand what had happened.  We had a long chat, I told her I did not see any obvious reason why this has happened. I stayed by her side, comforting her until she could pull her self together. Even Patches hopped over to lend and ear... I nearly fainted when I witnessed what he did next, he licked her!!!  Yes that's right, an actual Patches kiss right on her wrist, unbelievable I know.

I wish I had more answers to share, I know we all have many questions... but sadly sometimes this is just how life goes.
Harry ..... she forged a very special place in Yollie's heart... always by her side when there was work to be done....
So, to our dear Harry....
Young Harriett - our little Houdini... whom we all thought was a "Harry" ... and proved us very wrong indeed
"Bless you, please watch over us and keep us safe..... we know you will be re-united with your Mum Belle, Dad Wilbur and Sir Chester The Mouser.  Please hug each of our friends-past, tight. Until we meet again over Rainbow Bridge, from all your family, Rest in Peace".
Sir Chester the Mouser
Dame Belle

Wilbur

To all our dear friends, I wish you well, take care and until next time, goodbye.

Teegee the Tremendous ...

Yollie here,
We were privileged to see first had this amazing feat of our girl bunny, Teegee.

Have you ever seen anything like this before?

Please click this link to see it for yourself....  you won't be disappointed ....
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ax2L0SCTDnQ&feature=player_embedded

What this clip does not show is, for Teegee to re-fill her burrow, in took her about 4 hours.

She used her paws to scoop the dirt (she had previously dug out) up into a mound and then push this along the ground and into the hole... it was awesome to watch.

My clever girl x
And after?   Well a Kiss for her hus-bun of course... here Teegee is giving Angel a kiss on his brow xx

Teegee ... ready for her next trick!
Thanks so much for stopping by... as Sweetie says, don't forget to say Hi!

Not again!!! Snakes......

Hi Friends, Sweetie here.......
Some of you may remember reading My Yollies all too-close encounter with a live Brown Snake ... here is the link if you want to take a look, http://fairycastlefarm.blogspot.com.au/2011/03/yikes-brown-snake-watch-out.html Now it has happened to me! *THUMP*

Here is what happened. My Yollie keeps our hay in the East Wing (our silver tool shed) up on blocks to keep it clean and dry. This bale came from a different Fodder store to the one that sold us the 'soiled' Pellets (click this link for full story:  http://fairycastlefarm.blogspot.com.au/2012/02/angels-feels-mother-natures-gift-of.html ). Boy are we unlucky with Fodderstores of late!

Sorry, back to my story, okay.

While My Yollie was on her daily afternoon 'rounds' of the Kingdom- I Sweetie, as usual accompanied her.  Well I was getting bored and fidgety listening to My Yollie fuss and croon over Teegee and Angel for like, FOREVER! So My Yollie suggested I might like to wait for her in the East Wing.

So I hopped of like a good bunny and began a very thorough inspection of the oh so scrummy Hay bale. Just as I was ears deep in the scrummy hay 'inspecting' it, Yollie came back.

I have never seen and felt such fear and shock wash over a human so suddenly!! My senses went into overdrive.Yollie's arms dropped to her sides, the Chooks' food she was holding spilled to the ground and I swear I could hear My Yollie's heart pounding, all at the same time!! I leapt off the bale, to the floor and only stopped when I was safely hidden behind her legs!  I peered cautiously from behind her and to my horror I could see what had frightened My Yollie so....  I saw a gleam just to the back of where I had just been perched. It was this snake.
This is the (dead) Brown Snake:Can you believe it? ....  a dead young Brown Snake was under my paws, literally!!!!!  It is true! This is not the first time we have been visited by such reptilian....

I literally freaked out, thumping like mad.... primal fear and all.
Patches demonstrates my look!
It took me a second to workout it was not alive. I watched My Yollie as she went over to confirm it was dead.  With relief written all over her face (and body) I too began to calm down.   Acting quickly, My Yollie closed the East Wing, got a snap lock bag and carefully removed the little guy.  As scared as we were, I have to say I could see My Yollie felt a bit sad for the little tacker.  We could see that he had his spine broken, most likely during the harvest and had died right there in the bale.     -Later My Yollie told me that she called the store but hey did not care at all! They did not offer an apology, not even wanting to take her details. We were concerned that considering their clientèle (race horses) they might want to be aware... but apparently not. So now Yollie does don't got there either anymore.

Here you see Miss Princess preparing our breakfast and my Daddy Angel, 'inspecting' the hay bale. Not the same one that had the snake, but you get the idea...
I am just happy the ordeal is over and now I am very careful when I hop up onto the Hay Bale, I check with My Yollie that it is safe to do so first!
Thanks for stopping by friends,

Keep safe and remember "Don't be shy to hop by and say Hi!!"
Sweetie xx

Yes, we are still here, a catch-up ......

Hello to all our wonderful and caring friends,
Sweetie here,
So sorry we have not blogged in what seems like forever!

Hi, here in the window, yes that's it ... I'm in the castle (Teegee)
Many wonderful things have been taking place here in the Kingdom; Princess Willow is thriving and growing with eachday.

Mum and Dad are still happy and living harmoniously as are Patches and I.  Yollie is still hopeful in re-bonding us as a family of four, time will tell.
(L) Angel and (R) Teegee - loving life again, together xx

Holly (aka the beast) Dog is ageing well, she spends more time indoors of late, with Nannie beside the heater in the Granny flat.

However, unfortunately some not so nice things have been to visit too.  Miss Princess had a horrible bout of Pneumonia and her most recent samples for Salmonella have still tested positive, so we will have to wait a little longer for a clear bill of health.  My Yollie battled Bronchitis not once but twice this last month!!  Mr Stewart too fell ill to the spell of the Flu ...  But enough about icky illness back on to the good stuff!

Firstly I would like to thank you all for visiting. Although My Yollie has not been well enough to post of late, we have enjoyed reading of all your adventures.  Mrs Bok, we are very excited to hear your family will be adopting a feline too, soon.  And Speedy, thanks so much for caring about us... we have missed you too!

Welcome all new followers and guests from all over the world, we hope you enjoy your window to our Kingdom.
Still picking mountains of tomatoes, you wouldn't know it's already winter!!

I leave you all with a picture of our Kingdom and all the hardwork we have been doing to plant up the castle veggie garden...  well, I have been helping, I promise.  Eating the spent plants is helping! *giggles*

Enjoy,
xoxo Sweetie
